When i was younger i always wished i was a skateboarder and despite being a feminist i also realised that most girls didn't look half as cool skating and so i've always been a little bit disappointed that i wasn't born a boy. I did try skating once. I begged my parents for a proper skateboard, but after i fell off my friends crappy one i never got back on so erm...yeah, good call on my parents behalf. But i still love everything about it; the passion, the don't care attitude, the music on skate videos. Even the sound of the board rolling along the ground.
It's a shame i've basically thrown out everything that fits the mid 90's bill under the pretence that it was all ugly. Now i'm trying to get hold of as many oversized jumpers, tees and ripped denim as possible. But not the baggy jeans, you can keep those.
Kids is one of my favourite films, purely for the aesthetic. Ah, how i wish i lived in NY during the 90's!
I have always been interested in youth culture and if i ever did decide to go back to university i'm sure i would do a phd on this topic. But i've also been really nostalgic recently. My friends and i ate so much pic 'n' pix yesterday i thought i was going to puke. Being a 24 yr old jobless graduate doesn't help.
