Opening Ceremony

So late with my Opening Ceremony appreciation but i think it's perfect for Autumn dressing.

Plain cropped jumpers over collared dresses

Slouchy t-shirts over dresses

Flippy skirts

Paisley prints

Sweet and Vicious - W magazine

Until recently i wasn't a fan of anything remotely art deco but the styling in this photo shoot makes me want to throw out everything in my wardrobe that isn't brown, burgundy or tweed.

I've been living in the shadows of your song

(Alexander Wang)

(American Apparel)

I can admire colour on other people but no matter how hard i try to experiment with colour i cannot help but revert back to black.

Darker shades are just edgier and i find them so much more interesting and mysterious, not to mention a hell of a lot more flattering and easier to wear.

All over black is something i haven't yet mastered however and with brown hair it's even harder to pull off without looking like a teenage goth from 2002. It's one of the few occasions i wish i were a blonde!

There's nothing to do but i don't mind when i'm with you

I have mentioned Lina Scheynius' photography before but this time it's related to my new obsession with Urban Outfitters. Is it just me or have they gotten much, much better in the last few years? I like that everything is vintage looking, it means you don't have to go to second hand shops searching for something that may not even exist.

There's something of the Lolita with all the pretty dresses around at the moment, especially when paired with knee high or ankle socks. Fortunately, i've been told i look like a teenager still, but at 24 i won't be able to wear these for much longer.

I want to hold her hand, show her some beauty before this damage is done

Proenza Schouler is one of my all time favourite brands and i really think they're going to inspire a western indian/arts and crafts trend for next spring. I wish i was going away this year so i could pick up loads of cheap bracelets and rings but seeing as i'm not i'm going to spend the weekend making friendship bracelets.

This tribal print Whistles dress cost £125, which is hardly cheap, but i'm so depressed about interning that i needed something to get me through the day.

Why do the 90's feel so relevant right now? I'm positive it was naff the first time around but we just couldn't be bothered to think of anything better. Now all i want are some dungarees and a load of that horrible, hippy, silver jewellery, Mary-Kate Olsen style.

Still, i don't feel comforted by the fact i'm in the midst of a trend the second time around. Does that mean i'm old? Or did the trend just come around, really, really fast? More importantly...chokers. Will they make a come back? Could they? Should they?

(Luella, gone but not forgotten!)

Bed hair and black nail varnish are easy to carry off with but i salute anyone who can get away with dark, cranberry lipstick.

Nude, crop top. Definitely going to regret this one but at £10, who cares?

Between the click of the light and the start of the dream

Note the preppy mood at Margaret Howell

Got some unfortunate images of Heidi Montag when I Googled this

Braided hair at Alexander Wang

APC Madras

Despite my love for all things Parisian there are only so many stripy tops a girl can have and so now i'm giving checks in the form of APC a try. Around London this weekend I spotted tonnes of checks, patchwork and little-house-on-the-prairie type dresses with frilly shoulders similar to the new Twentysevennames collection.

purify the colours, purify my mind

Disposable cameras produce cliche photos but how i love them so. There's something exciting about not seeing the photos straight away, and the anticipation of the end result, don't you think?

black wave/bad vibrations

Feeling really inspired by hippy, folk prints at the moment.

In love with this shoot; the colours, the mood everything. I can't believe someone has this job! I'm also in love with the models face, definitely up and coming.

"I've thought myself out of happiness one million times, but never once into it"

Haven't updated for ages because i've been interning these past few weeks. I'm bored of not having a job, i want to go away again but i know i'll be coming back to nothing again. I'm feeling really disillusioned with everything. Definitely decided i want a job in copywriting/trend spotting but getting into that sector is near impossible at the moment. Ce n'est pas facile!

At the moment i'm reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, it's quite hard to get into but i really like the writing style.

Really loving Lina Scheynius' photography at the moment too.
